Fantastic Beasts

Elise, who has asked to be a bit of a mystery woman with her mask and all, pieced her awesome quilt called The Fantastic Beasts. You can be assured there is going to be a very happy young person with this one!

Carole Ann Gardner did the longarm quilting on this one. Carole Ann is an incredible longarm quilter with years of experience and just a delightful person to get to know.

I find with very specific fabrics such as these, the market is small but they are very excited to find something that perfect!
I seem to have the attention span of a gnat, so this works well for me. Ergo, we have gnomes, unicorns, vintage, denim look and not that many years ago we actually had fabric called fruit on a beach!!! All the women that were sun bathing were shaped like different fruit. I had bolts and bolts of it. Hubby was terrified I would make a bed quilt with it. Imagine him sleeping under all these women at the beach quilt, that look like pears, bananas and more. LOL

Women Helping Women.

This year we are again participating in collecting purses for women in need. Gently used or new purses with supplies you think would be appreciated. This program has proved to be very popular and fills a need not just for the product the purses contain, but is such an emotional lift!

Socks, mitts or gloves, makeup, perfume, kleenex, hygiene products, gift cards, masks, wallet or anything else that you think would be good.

Mini Retreat in 2022

Another retreat at South Thompson Inn is planned for next March.
Dates are March 18,19 and 20th.
Starts at 9am on the 18th and the retreat ends at 5pm on the 20th. You have 3 full days plus evenings if you wish.
Lunch, morning and afternoon coffee and snacks are provided. Your breakfast and dinner are up to you, to keep the cost down and give everyone options.

This retreat is for UFO projects only, with Anne Hall helping you on your Quiltworx and Be Colourful projects.

Sewing Machine Repair

Bill's dad has passed away but will continue to bring machines over on the Wednesday of each week. Please bear with us as we muddle through this sad passing.

***There is no added cost for Bill to bring your machines over to Salmon Arm.***

Hector then takes the machines back to Kelowna to service and you get your machine back the following Thursday.

Please have your machine in to us by the end of the day on Tuesdays.

RIH Raffle Quilt 2021

The hugely talented ladies of the RIH Auxillary Quilters are back again with 2 amazing quilts for you!
Proceeds from the sale of $5 tickets goes towards the purchase of equipment for Royal Inland Hospital.

First prize is a queen/king size gorgeous quilt 94" x 94". Handmade with exceptional piecing and quilting, this quilt would truly be a heirloom.

Second prize is a lap size  floral quilt called Blue Poppy 44" x 55". The fabrics are so beautiful in this quilt with rich blues and yellows and elegant ivories.

Twinkle Star by Barb Hollingshead.

Barb Hollingshead very kindly sent us a photo of her child's quilt finished. This one is called Twinkle Star by Someday is Today Patterns by Betty Oswell and yours truly, Heather Fagervik.

The pattern is very simple with a technique learned to achieve those curvy star points. Barb chose a tan neutral for her background. Barb likes to work from her stash and I would imagine her fabric called out to be released from the bin. Her stars are vibrant primary colours to grab a little one's attention.

A beautiful quilt for a child and I know this one is destined to be loved for a long time.

A Call for Help

I just received a call from the Women's Shelter asking if we can help to collect stockings for the women they are helping to get back on their feet.

Their goal is 10, but of course more is always better. Extras would just be put away for next year.

If you would like to help, please bring your stockings to the shop and I will get them over to the Shelter.
