Very Sad News

sad-face-2

Very sad news but not unexpected. We had booked the Hawaii cruise long before the Covid outbreak and were just so excited to go. Alas it is not to be.

For the safety of ourselves, our clients who are going, as well as everyone else on the ship Holland America has cancelled the cruise.

I like to try to remain positive and my outlook is that this will give me more time to lose weight and fit into the bathing suit I have now had for 8 years.

Anne and I would like to thank all of you for your interest in having a holiday with us and look forward to when we can schedule it again.

From Holland America this morning:

As we continue to prepare and develop our plans, we have made the decision to extend our pause in cruise operations for all departures through March 31, 2021, cruises of eight days or longer that call at a U.S. port through November 1, 2021, and select longer cruise itineraries departing this spring. As a result, we must cancel your upcoming voyage (Booking #CV2K3J).

We are participating in this program!

We are helping the NSBIA in this fabulous opportunity to give back to our community.

Heather's Fabric Shelf will be a Drop Off point for gently used purses that you are passing on with some items inside for women in need.

This has been a challenging year for many of us and the need is greater than ever before. In the picture you see Patti up to her knees in purses.....now imagine Patti with purses up to her thighs!

Let's have some fun with this and load those purses with fun items, useful items and de-clutter our closets at the same time!

Paulette Eccleston

Paulette Eccleston was in on Monday to long arm quilt this beauty of a bed size quilt. This time Paulette chose to quilt with the computer and it turned out just gorgeous!

Paulette was able to have perfect results with the computer driving the machine as well as using Glide thread. Learning the set up can be a bit daunting but the quilting of the quilt is easy peasy!

Thank you to Paulette for sharing another of your amazing scrap quilts with everyone!

Elaine Stefura

elaine-stefura-squares-blues-greens

Elaine Stefura was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous quilt she made for a very good friend! I would be very tempted to keep this one....it is just jaw dropping it is so pretty.

Elaine wanted to have a bit of a water look to the quilt and found a digital design called "Diana" that was just perfect. Using a green Glide thread that worked with all the shades of blues and greens , this one is really beautiful!

Thank you to Elaine for coming to share your day with us and inspiring everyone!

Donna Fleury

donna-fluery-computer

Donna Fleury was in to long arm quilt her lovely earth toned quilt and decided to give the computer a whirl. With Bill's help she got it done in a gorgeous edge to edge design that really enhanced the pattern.

I just love this photo of Donna! I can just imagine the expression on her face behind the mask! I told her that I was going to take one photo without using the tall skinny lens just for fun. She really does not need a tall skinny lens at all and we had a good chuckle with it...LOL I think the photo turned out so well that is the one I chose to share with everyone. You look great Donna!!

Diana Hewins

diana-hewins-snowballs

Diana Hewins was in to long arm quilt her bright and cheery quilt this past Monday. I was off that day so was not here for all the action. Coral kindly took the picture and sent it to me. Lori was here to help Diana and together they did a great team effort!

Diana chose to use the computer as well. Using the Glide thread and a fairly intricate pattern Diana has a quilt to be so proud of!

Thank you to Diana for sharing your day with my team of Coral and Lori and also for always being so willing to try something new and share with everyone.

Caroline Dennill

carolyn-denill-1

Caroline Dennill brought her quilt to us to long arm for her. Lori Dewart did the digital quilting and it is gorgeous!

The edge to edge design chosen was Dragon Wings and the top thread is Glide Key Lime. Caroline chose to use a Minky on the back and just take a look at the next picture showing the back! Isn't that awesome??

Thank you to Caroline for letting us be a part of your quilt story and to Lori Dewart for doing a fabulous job on the long arming!

Heather Nymeyer

heather-nymeyer-1

Heather Nymeyer was in to use the computer program on our long arm to quilt her gorgeous Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt. Heather found it so much easier on her back with the computer.

Thread chosen was Glide Warm Grey 4 which to me looks more Taupe on the spool than grey, but on the quilt it showed up a grey!

For this quilt Heather chose a digital pattern called Maple Syrup and made the maple leaves a bit larger for a looser quilting look. The project turned out fabulous!

Thank you Heather for sharing with everyone and always being willing to learn something new.

Heather Nymeyer

heather-nymeyer-2

After quilting her queen size quilt Heather Nymeyer still had some gas in the tank and said "Let's do another!"

Bill helped her to get it loaded and set the computer again for a more modern design and away she went. She used the same Glide thread as the first quilt for the second.

This one turned just as lovely as the first and Heather went home a very happy quilter! And her back says "Thank you"....LOL

Brenda Bliss

brenda-bliss-sheep-quilt-2

Brenda Bliss was in to long arm quilt her darling little baby girl quilt. Is this not just the cutest?

Brenda chose a edge to edge design done on the computer called "Dear Hearts" and a baby pink Glide thread for the great results you see in the photo.

She had the project done in less than one hour so very affordable. Now she is off home to get the binding on.

Thank you to Brenda for coming this morning to quilt and also to Bill for helping her with her project. We have a kit left in the shop to make this exact quilt that you can find in the shop or online at : http://www.fabricshelf.ca
