Joanne Bird

Joanne Bird brought her incredible quilt in for us to quilt for her. Joanne found the pattern in a quilt book by Kaffe Fassett and you just have to fall in love with the prints and colours! Kaffe Fassett has some of the best fabrics out in regards to print and saturation of the colours!
One of the blocks in this quilt was originally called Gentleman's Fancy and to see it done in modern day fabrics was really interesting. A completely different look!
This is a big quilt finishing at 84" x 100" with the digital design Boho used for a swirly look! Top thread is Glide Arabian. Quilt was longarmed by the talented Lori Dewart.
Thank you to Joanne for sharing with us all!

Quilt is called Nashville, with the digital design Bosa Nova and Glide black thread being used for top notch results. Great job on the quilt and what a fun day!

Wendy White

Wendy White was in to longarm quilt her gorgeous little girls quilt. she created the quilt using her embroidery machine for the large Sweet Peas.Embroidery Stitches were also used in the sashing strips. Every time I see Wendy's amazing embroidery work I promise myself to get going and use mine. Which I always seem to put off....sadly.
With help from Leslie the quilt was beautifully quilted and ready to go in no time at all. Using one of the newer features on our longarm system Leslie was able to quilt around but not on top of the embroidery. Beautiful finish!
Thank you to Wendy for sharing!

Weekly Quilting Tip
| |
To keep your iron clean you need to wipe it down often, depending on how much you use it. Now, I do know most of you only use the iron for quilting ( I am too in this group) but there is nothing more annoying than getting ready to press and having gunk all over your fabric! Grrr
But it is Saturday night at 10 o'clock and you have no iron cleaner in the house! What do you do? Do not try a SOS pad or other nasty cleaner that will scratch your iron. Try this simple but effective method: To clean the sole plate of your iron, gently sprinkle a brown paper bag generously with salt. Then gently rub your warm iron over it.

Women Helping Women
This year we are again collecting gently used purses filled with women's essentials.
This has been a particularly difficult year for many people, with rising prices on all our everyday necessities. Please consider helping with a gently used purse filled with basics for women. Gloves, hand cream, shampoo, candies, feminine hygiene products, a book, soap, socks and anything else you can think of that would be useful.
You can drop them off anytime at the shop from Monday through Saturday 10am to 5pm.

Scissor Sharpening
| |
We have discovered a fellow in town, Rick Walker, a fully certified, scissor sharpener who will come and sharpen your scissors here at the shop. Rick comes with 40 years of experience and does a great job! He will even sharpen pinking shears, grooming shears and more.
Drop your scissors off at the shop and as soon as we have enough to make it worthwhile we will have him come out. I would think 4 - 5 pairs should be good. You can also just give us a call at 250-376-7630 and let us know you are interested so you aren't without your scissors for any length of time.
Cost is $10 a pair.
Just a side note from us: He sharpened our batting scissors and did amazing! They are like brand new scissors!
