Women Helping Women.

This year we are again participating in collecting purses for women in need. Gently used or new purses with supplies you think would be appreciated. This program has proved to be very popular and fills a need not just for the product the purses contain, but is such an emotional lift!

Socks, mitts or gloves, makeup, perfume, kleenex, hygiene products, gift cards, masks, wallet or anything else that you think would be good.

Mini Retreat in 2022

‌

Another retreat at South Thompson Inn is planned for next March.
Dates are March 18,19 and 20th.
Starts at 9am on the 18th and the retreat ends at 5pm on the 20th. You have 3 full days plus evenings if you wish.
Lunch, morning and afternoon coffee and snacks are provided. Your breakfast and dinner are up to you, to keep the cost down and give everyone options.

This retreat is for UFO projects only, with Anne Hall helping you on your Quiltworx and Be Colourful projects.

Lori Dewart

Here we have the always fun and dynamic Lori Dewart sprawled lovingly with her Coral Reef  by Quiltworx project she worked on in the last retreat out at South Thompson Inn.

This is going to be a huge quilt but she is determined to get through it. Lori loves to go to a retreat and optimize her time on working on more complicated projects.

I would like to say I do the same, but alas no. I am working on Quiltworx Wintergreen. Still. Into year 2. le sigh.....I should do less visiting at retreat and more work! LOL

We have loads of the fabrics and are kitting some and putting some out on the shelves so you have choices. This is one of the most impressive lines we have seen!

The kits we are doing up are designed for a Quiltworx pattern. The pattern is so new that it isn't even out yet! I am being told it should be out in a few weeks but I have posted a photo of it below to give you all a sneak peek. This is a large quilt at 99" x 99".

Verna Miller

Verna Miller was in to long arm quilt her quilt called "Fantastic Beasts". Isn't this just an awesome quilt for the lovers of Fantasy novels and movies?

Verna is getting so comfortable on the long arm using the computer that she can get through a bed size quilt in just a couple of hours. When you come in to rent the machine, bring your measurements with you for the top, batting and the backing. That way the information can be put up on the board and really helps to speed things up.

Heather Nymeyer

Heather Nymeyer was in to longarm quilt her awesome quilt she made with a First Nations theme.

Heather's husband is a collector of First Nations art and I am sure he will absolutely love this quilt. Heather did a bit of adjustment to make the quilt a titch larger. What a gorgeous balance of the colours and theme in this one!

The colour of thread chosen for the top was Glide Affinity in a variegated called Zebra, so all those blacks, greys and creamy whites were awesome. The bobbin thread chosen was Lead Grey and of course, the Magna Glide was used.

Maureen Coates

‌

Maureen Coates created this gorgeous modern quilt using so many different techniques. Truly one of the most interesting quilts to see!

Maureen has used Dresden plate blocks appliqued in place, several different designs for the blocks with half square triangles, connector corners, hourglass blocks and so much more. I could spend an hour just looking at this one.

Thank you to Maureen for giving us all some great ideas on how to experiment with our fabrics, colours and patterns. You are such a creative quilter!

Leslie Heppner

Leslie Heppner brought her awesome Bargello quilt in for us to quilt for her. Don't you just love her fabric colours? This one makes me think of water with all those yummy blues and greens.

This particular quilt was amazingly easy to quilt. Lovely piecing and pressing just made it so delightful to quilt. Lori Dewart did the longarm quilting.

If you have a quilt you would like to have us quilt, pour the jets on for a finish in time for Christmas. We are currently at a bout a 2 -3 week turn around so cracking my whip at you all! LOL Just kidding, bring your project in and we will do our best to get it back to you asap.

Leslie Heppner

Leslie Heppner and Quilt #2 she brought in for us to quilt for her. Good lord, this woman is like a machine! Her quilts are beautifully pieced, carefully chosen for the quilt recipient and just a delight to get to work on.

Lori Dewart did the quilting on this one as well. This one is for a family member who is an avid fisherman. The design chosen has trout and fishing lines. I can see this design being very popular with all the outdoor quilts!

I told you this woman is like a machine!!!
Here we have quilt #3 Leslie Heppner had us quilt for her. Again Lori Dewart did the quilting and it is stunning in a computer design called Maple Sugar.

Her Flying Geese are absolutely spot on with points where they need to be, every seam is matching.,......Leslie, you are such a keener!!! LOL Seriously, this is one beautiful quilt that a very luck family member is going to love!

Lise McDevitt

Lise McDevitt was in this week to long arm quilt 2 lap sized quilts, in one day! You go girl! With Bill's help she got through the 2 quilts in one day. She took the quilts home to put the binding on and then back to the shop for photo op.

First up is this lovely quilt in the reds, blacks, greys and creamy whites. Lots of this colour theme quilts coming in right now.

Lise is also an excellent piecer with a good eye for colour and placement. The pattern is fairly easy with this pattern, just a lot of cutting and sewing! Beautiful work Lise!
Just a little side note..... Lise makes the best strawberry scones I have ever had! Thank you to Lise for helping me in my "Bulk up for Winter" program! LOL

Lise McDevitt #2

Lise McDevitt was in to longarm quilt this one on the same day as the above project. Don't you just love the rich fall colours in this one?

One of the features I was a bit surprised with was the binding colour choice. It is absolutely perfect, but I wouldn't have thought of cream for the binding. I need to think outside the box a bit more, I think.

The digital design chosen is called Carpet of Leaves and is one of the most popular patterns we have.

Sewing Machine Repair

‌

A little bit of a change to the machine repair schedule.

Bill has rescheduled when he will visit his dad in Salmon Arm to Wednesdays. He will bring your machines out to meet up with Hector in Salmon Arm.

***There is no added cost for Bill to bring your machines over to Salmon Arm.***

Hector then takes the machines back to Kelowna to service and you get your machine back the following Thursday.
