Ann Gerritts

Ann Gerritts was in to long arm 2 autumn themed quilts this week. The Sampler quilt is just gorgeous in warm browns and the loveliest red tones. I had to pet the quilt every time I walked past!
The pumpkin quilt is so fun with the purple actually having a bit of metallic sprinkle on it. Anne opted for the computer program with a pumpkin edge to edge design. How is that for a perfect design for this quilt?
Bill was there to help her with the set up and choosing threads and designs. It was a full day for Ann but so worth it. Just the binding on and then she is on to the next!
Thank you to Ann for sharing your fabulous projects with us!

Drina Latrace

Drina Latrace brought her quilt in for us to longarm for her. Lori Dewart did the quilting in a sweet little edge to edge design. I love the theme of Ballerina dancers in this little girl quilt. You don't see a lot of dance theme fabric so Drina was all over this when it came in!
I also wanted to point out the size of the quilt. Perfect for crib and a lap as the child grows this quilt is sure to be used for many years to come.
Beautiful choice in colours and layout Drina! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of the quilt story!
Are you wanting to get some of your projects quilted? To get an estimate of what your quilt will cost to be quilted : length x width x .03cents. You can just bring your quilt in with batting and backing 4" larger all around or send an email to me at info@fabricshelf.ca
Also if you go to longarm service on our website you will find all sorts of interesting and useful information including how to prepare your backing! http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Women Helping Women.

This year we are again participating in collecting purses for women in need. Gently used or new purses with supplies you think would be appreciated. This program has proved to be very popular and fills a need not just for the product the purses contain, but is such an emotional lift!
Socks, mitts or gloves, makeup, perfume, kleenex, hygiene products, gift cards, masks, wallet or anything else that you think would be good.
Drop off at our shop any time during business hours until Dec. 14th
I have the poster in the window of our shop as well as at the till. If you have any questions please call Patti at the NSBIA 250-376-2411

Drina Latrace

Drina Latrace had us quilt her very cool motorcycle quilt. Drina had purchased the themed fabric from us a bit ago and I was very curious to see what she did with it.
Lori Dewart did the quilting on this one and did a great job of it. Part of what can make your quilt come together so much better is the quality of your fabrics, the accuracy of the piecing and the thread chosen to quilt with.
We do not like to longarm quilt with sheets as they are tighter woven than regular quilting cottons and can cause tension issues. Batiks are doable but be aware that they are more tightly woven as well. Better than the sheet but not as easy as regular cotton. Flannels, minky, Fireside/Cuddletex all work great. We are very well stocked on our widebacks right now so make sure you take a look in the shop or online at https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/Fabric/Wide-Back-Cotton.htm
On the website you can also find the Minky, flannel and Cuddletex.

Verna Miller

Verna Miller was in to longarm quilt her awesome quilt pieced by Charlotte Wagner. Charlotte created this quilt using a strip roll. By using a strip roll she was guaranteed all the fabrics were going to play nice together.
Verna was the quilter and wanted you all to really notice the backing as she just loved it! Talk about getting adventurous! Why not add some snap to your next project? I love this backing....
Thank you to Verna and Charlotte for sharing with everyone....

Here we go again

Due to rising numbers in the Covid cases in the Interior we have been mandated by the Provincial Government that masks are now mandatory.
Masks must be worn at all times in the shop. The numbers allowed in the shop stay the same ....limit of 10.... and we have the hand sanitizing stations still at the door and at the till.
We ask for everyone to be respectful and considerate towards all small and large businesses out there. Together, with kindness and calmness we will get through this. Thank you.

Sewing Machine Repair

A little bit of a change to the machine repair schedule.
Bill has rescheduled when he will visit his dad in Salmon Arm to Wednesdays. He will bring your machines out to meet up with Hector in Salmon Arm. there is no added cost for Bill to bring your machines over to Salmon Arm.
Hector then takes the machines back to Kelowna to service and you get your machine back the following Thursday.
Hoping this all makes sense to you. If you have any questions please give us a call at 250-376-7630 or you can email us info@fabricshelf.ca
***Please note that the price of the servicing is going up by $10 to offset Hector and Tammy's travel costs up from Kelowna and back. **** We have openings for machines to be serviced. Don't forget that Hector and Tammy service sergers as well.
If you can drop your machines off by end of day on Tuesday you can be assured your machine will get over to Hector.

108" Bloom Wideback

New Wide backs in this week as well. From Studio e we have this gorgeous wideback in 2 colour waves.
It features a large-scale contemporary floral created using just two colours.... red and white or black and white. The pattern works for both quilt backings as well as home décor projects such as comforter covers and shower curtains. I remember having a client come in with just 2 pieces of fabrics to longarm. She loved the fabric so just layered it and quilted all over! It was gorgeous! Why didn't I think of that?
Find these 2 widebacks in the shop or online at https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/c/p/108-BLOOM---BLACKWHITE-x60180791.htm
