Meet Your Neighbour

002-6

Meet Sandra Sugden, quilter extraordinaire!

Sandra was born in Vancouver but grew up all around the world! Her family was a military family so travel was in the cards. She travelled to Europe, USA and throughout Canada.

Sandra is a self taught sewer as her mom was a bit shy on patience in teaching the domestic arts. Sandra persevered and began sewing when she was first married and with a young children. Her kids were the recipients of many articles of clothing over the years. Finally, the kids said "No More Mom!" so she then became a quilter.

In typical Sandra fashion she took to it like a duck to water and has produced many absolutely stunning projects. Never one to sit back she joined the Cotton Pickers Guild and became the Vice President. Next year she will be stepping up to be President. The Cotton Pickers Guild supports Hospice House, Food Bank, Basics for Babies and the Cottonwood Center.

Sometimes she actually gets a chance to sleep! Whew, Sandra you are one amazing woman!

Iva Hegyi

iva-hegyi

Iva Hegyi was in yesterday to learn to use the Long arm machine. She did a great job and really made Bill work hard by asking loads of questions!

Her quilt was made using a panel meant for a soft book for a child. By cutting out the panel blocks she was able to use them in an adorable baby quilt!

Great work on your quilt Iva. Feel free to contact Bill with any further questions you have....hehe!

Val Bissat

val-bissat-and-floral-beauty-2

Val Bissat was in with her husband Bill, to long arm quilt this Floral Beauty.

Val and Bill always work as a team on the long arm quilting. Val steers on the panto and Bill does the lining up and front work. They make quite the team!

One of the things I like the best about this couple is their commitment to supporting their local quilt shop, Dancing Quilts, and their community. Thank you to the Bissats for their loyalty and appreciation of small business.
