This week meet Cathy Price, garment sewer and a very classy lady!

Cathy was born in Vancouver and moved to Kamloops at the age of 13. She completed her schooling here in Kamloops and has resided here since.

She started sewing at the the age of 5 or 6 being taught by her grandmother. She had an interest in all things garment sewing. It became a passion with Cathy sewing much of her own clothing until at the age of 27 she started a clothing business for children. She marketed her clothing through word of mouth, craft fairs and more.

Cathy's specialty is garment sewing for all sizes with a love of working with knits. She makes the most amazing shirts for both men and women with an ability to handle all sewing needs and alterations. Her work is beautiful with a keen eye to detail and perfection.

Andrea Schafthuizen

Andrea Schafthuizen was in on Friday to long arm this gorgeous wedding quilt. Unfortunately I couldn't have her in the picture because I was running the till, Bill was holding the quilt and Andrea was taking the picture.

Andrea used a Panto called Flirtatious and Glide thread for perfect results!

RIH Donation Quilt

Those very talented ladies of the RIH Auxiliary Quilters created a Whole Cloth quilt , [ queen size ] to be raffled off. There is bonus bed/table runner as well.

With 580 hours of hand stitching in the quilt it is a true heirloom. I will definitly be purchasing some tickets at $2 each. The money raised is used in different departments of the hospital for equipment.

Tickets are available at Diversity Quilt Shop, Katja's Quilt Shop and of course our shop, Heather's Fabric Shelf.

Joni Newman - Designer!

This is super exciting news for everyone! Joni Newman, a designer for Northcott fabrics for many years now is coming to our shop in September to hold a Trunk Show and then classes in October!!

Her techniques are very unique and her artistry is incredible! We do have 5 of her wall hangings up in the shop but she has over 300 quilts in her collection! Joni will be showing pieced and appliqued quilts.

The date of the Trunk show is Friday September 20 at 2 pm or Sunday September 22 at 11 am. Friday  is in the afternoon at 2pm and Sunday is in the morning at 11 am. The cost is $5 for the show........but you get the $5 back when you purchase  in the shop that day!

We do need to know if you are coming so we know how many chairs. Give us a call at 250-376-7630.

Classes are scheduled for October 9th and 19th. One day classes @$60.00.
