Meet Your Neighbour!

pat-salloway-and-val-mcdougall-001

Meet Pat Salloway! Pat Salloway is a long time sewer and quilter from Ontario. She moved here from Ontario to be closer to family several years ago.

Pat started her quilting journey with quilting panels as many of us did. Panels were super popular back in the 80s and Pat took to it like a duck to water. Working in a fabric shop helped to build up her stash of projects.

About 20 years ago she got really serious about quilting and developed a love of the piecing of the quilt. She loves the process of choosing colours, the precision of the piecing and the final result of the puzzle is very satisfying for her! Us too!

Nice to get to know you a bit better, Pat, and keep on quilting! Ps....yes she has a lovely stash!!

Annemarie Fraser

  008

Annemarie Fraser was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous little baby quilt on Wednesday!

She bought the pattern here and I am so jealous I didn't pick one up for myself! This is so much cuter than the pattern picture!

She has used batiks on the front and her choice in colours was spot on! I love it enough I may just have to reorder this one!

Thank you Annemarie for sharing with us all!

Paulette Eccleston

004-2

Paulette was in to long arm quilt this quilt as well on Wednesday. She received the fabrics in an exchange and figured out a way to make it all work beautifully!

Paulette chose to free motion this quilt from the front of the machine. She has used a swirling line with loops and stars. Just a perfect design for this project.

Thank you so much Paulette for coming in and spending the morning with us.

Sandra Sugden

We love it when Sandra comes in....her quilts are so easy to work with. Lovely work.

Sandra used the Carpet of Leaves panto and Glide thread in a warm tan colour. Perfect results!

Five Star Runner

5 star by Linda 004
Very exciting news for everyone! One of my best friends and fellow quilting addicts from Haida Gwaii is coming down to teach a class here at the shop!

The class on Friday September 14th is sold out! We still have room in the Saturday 15th class so give us a call 250-376-7630 or check on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Linda Rowbotham will be here September 14 and 15th to teach a class using a very cool technique to make these gorgeous table runners. This is not paper pieced. It is a slice and insert method! You literally cannot make a mistake!! Have to love that!

You can make as many stars as you wish. In the sample there are 3 and we will have samples in the shop. Because she lives on the ocean Linda has gone with a beach theme in colours. You could choose any colour you like. Night sky? Bright fun colours? Batiks or regular cottons? The world is your oyster ladies!

Cost of the class is $45 and is a one day class so choose your day and come on in to the shop for this great class. Pattern is included. Please note - the tax is included in the price on the Websitehttp://www.fabricshelf.ca

I added some decorative beads to mine but you can do whatever works best for you as far as decorating! Give us a call at the shop at 250-376-7630 or check it out online at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Christine Drew

christine

Christine Drew was in to learn to use our long arm machine this week!  Christine did beautiful piecing on her quilt which made the process so much easier!

She has used a line of fabrics designed by Robin Kingsley that I just love! She added the braids at the top and bottom to  make her project the size she needed.

Thank you Christine for coming in for the day! See you tomorrow for another quilt to be done!
