Agnes Rivet

agnes-rivet-cougar-2

Agnes Rivet had her queen size quilt in for us to quilt for her. Lori Dewart did the quilting and I chose the coordinate fabrics for the panel. Bit of a Village quilt!

Agnes is absolutely over the moon thrilled for the outcome of the quilt. She did a fabulous job of the piecing which made the long arm quilting just so much easier.

Beautiful project, Agnes, and we thank you so much for letting us be a part of the story!

Becky Geeson

becky-geeson-2

Becky Geeson was in to take the class and learn to use our APQS long arm machine. She brought a quilt that she had made in recent years and was really not that fond of. Well, guess what? She loves it now and after the binding goes on it will be living in the spare room!

According to information on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War in the USA runaway slaves upon seeing the quilt block would know to go back one space. The quilt block signified that Slave Hunters were in the area and they would need to double back to elude them immediately.

Becky was totally thrilled with her quilt and had her next day booked right away! See you on the 19th for the next quilt! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us all!

Colleen Smith

colleen-3

Colleen Smith had this quilt long arm quilted by us. She brought it in, not in love with it and with it done is now just in 7th heaven!

Colleen found the fabric a bit problematic in that it kept stretching and just being a brat. She persevered and got the piecing done and happily handed it over to us to finish. Lori did the quilting and it looks gorgeous!

Well done Colleen and I am so happy that you love your quilt again!  Thank you for letting us be a part of the story of your quilt and I hope it inspires more people to finish those UFOs.

Kathy Mirtle

kathy-mirtle-scrap-2

Kathy Mirtle has become a quilting machine! Holy Toledo she shows up to quilt another couple of quilts and has a table runner to show that she made at home.

The quilt you see in this photo is all from scraps and yes,.......she still has a stash! Log cabin designs work so well for using up those scraps that we save, because we can't bear to part with.

The chimney in each block is a different colour which I think really adds to the scrappy, fun look!

Kathy Mirtle #2

kathy-mirtle-3

Kathy Mirtle with her second quilt she quilted that day! You can really see that she is determined to use up some of her stash!

A darling little baby quilt done in a String quilt pattern it has a strong Vintage feel to it. I happen to really love the vintage look so this one resonated with me a lot.

Just so you all know, we should do a betting pool for when we think that Kathy is going to run out of fabric in her stash!  LOL

Kathy Mirtle #3

kathy-mirtle-table-runner-prarie-points-2

And here we have Kathy Mirtle again.....this time with a Christmas table runner she made at home in her spare time! Yes she does occasionally have spare time so she attacks the stash again!

Her table runner is made with 5" squares and Prairie Points so very simple but super effective in the end result! Kathy quilted this one at home herself with simple quilting.

I just loved the look of this one, but then I am a fan of Prairie Points.
So, people, what do you think on her stash use? I say she will use it up by January 15 2021.

We will have to depend on Kathy for when she actually does use the stash up. Therefore there is no actual end date. Weird sounding contest but fun!
If you have any guesses send them to me at info@fabricshelf.ca

Whoever comes the closest will win a fat quarter pack to add to your stash! Kathy will also get a fat quarter pack so she can restart her stash again! Sound like fun?

Movers and Shakers

movers-and-shakers

This week for Movers and Shakers we have 2 BC businesses in the news. One the news items is rather sad and the other very exciting.

First up is news that A Great Notion is closing after many successful years in the business. I don't think there is much about notions and their application that they don't know! I love the way you can phone any time and ask a multitude of questions and they always had the answer for you. Customer service just above and beyond. Thank you to them all for their hard work over the years and all the help they provided to consumers and other shops as well. We thank you and wish all the best in your future endeavours.

Second up we have Cherry Tree Quilting from Summerland, in the Okanogan. They are featured in the latest Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler magazine as a Top 10 Shop! Quite the achievement and we are thrilled for them. It is always good to see a shop that gets the rewards for all their hard work. The pattern they have submitted is gorgeous as well so make sure to check it out.
