Maggie Dempster

This one is incredibly special! Maggie Dempster, the little girl on the right made this quilt for herself with help from her mom!
Yes, that is correct! She is a quilter in training and has done a fabulous job of this strip quilt. She chose to have a Minky on the back and when Lori Dewart did the quilting she nailed it with choice in colour of Glide thread and design. There was much excitement in the shop with everyone wanting to see the quilt and I just know that there will be some serious snuggling under that one!
Congratulations Maggie! You did a fantastic job and we are so happy you let us be a part of your quilt journey. Also a huge thank you goes out to mom....Tara....who has worked so hard to show her daughters all that she knows!
Thank you Maggie and Tara for sharing with us all!

Donna Clements

Donna Clements was in to pick up her stunning Snowflake quilt she had us quilt for her. Using only 2 colours she has a fresh modern cozy winter quilt. I must be getting more modern or something as I really like the off center design of the snowflake.
Lori Dewart did the quilting using a lovely snowflake pattern and it is just gorgeous. Perfect pattern, perfect density and perfect stitching using the Glide thread.
Beautiful work Donna and I want to thank you for letting us be a part of your quilt's story. Donna has the most fascinating information as to the history of where our shop is and her family background. She actually lived on acreage years ago right where our shop is!!! How cool is that? I will try to get more on the story and pass it on to you all.
Are you wanting to get some of your projects quilted? We are at a week to a week and half turnaround. To get an estimate of what your quilt will cost to be quilted : length x width x .03cents. You can just bring your quilt in with batting and backing 4" larger all around or send an email to me at info@fabricshelf.ca

Anne Redford

Anne Redford was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous Unicorn quilt for a granddaughter. The center of the quilt is from the pattern by Elizabeth Hartman called Lisa the Unicorn.
Anne was very surprised at how large the center Unicorn square ended up. Finished size is 26" for the center square. She did a awesome job of building it out to bed size and I know that there is going to be one very excited little granddaughter!
Thank you to Anne for sharing all your talents and showing us what we can do to adapt a pattern to work for the size you want!
If you would like to purchase the Lisa the Unicorn pattern we do have it in stock. Find it in the shop or on the website : https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/c/p/LISA-THE-UNICORN-PATTERN-x36168811.htm

Gina Barrett.

Gina Barrett was in to quilt her lovely little boy baby quilt. The colours she chose are like denim blue jeans with a bit of outdoor theme happening.
Bill was the helper on this one with Gina, and they chose to quilt it using an outdoor theme design with fir trees, bears and mountains. Isn't that just perfect for this quilt? This is definitely one quilt that will be loved for many years to come.
Thank you to Gina for sharing your day and your creativity with us all. I just love the way so many customers will share their ideas and inspire us all!

Verna Miller was in to long arm quilt her amazing framed squares quilt. Using a simple pattern but wonderful choices in fabric and colours she really makes this quilt shine!
Verna is on a mission to get through a good part of her stash and I think she must be making some headway now. hmmmmm.....
Do you have some great fabric in your stash that you just can't bear to cut up? Or not sure quite what to do with it? This might be just the perfect pattern for everything from children's prints, outdoor prints, large floral and more. Give it a try! We would love to see what you create!
Thank you to Verna so much for sharing with us and giving us some more ideas to use what we have!

Carlina Stewart

Carlina Stewart was in to longarm quilt her amazingly perfect quilt she made using a star pattern. Carlina is one of the most meticulous quilters we have come through the door.
Always paying close attention to her fabric choices, thread choices and especially her pattern choices, her projects always turn out just perfect! No pressure, but when I grow up I want to quilt like Carlina. LOL
With help from Lori Dewart tshe chose a great quilt design called Plume, used the always dependable and lovely Glide thread and paid careful attention to lining everything up. The end result is gorgeous!!!
Carlina is a bit coy on the whole picture taking scenario so we let her just show the quilt. Thank you to Carlina for sharing it all with us. Carlina, if you are reading this we want to know the name of the pattern.

Free to a good home!!

We have been given a treadle sewing machine. It does need work on the wood part but the machine seems fine. What a fabulous piece to have in your home for display or even to use!
The serial number is JA712253 which you can use to look up the date and place of manufacturing on the Singer site. https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-sewing-machine-serial-number-database.html
There are 2 drawers with the leather belt, accessory feet and the manual. The little book manual seems to have oil or something on it but it isn't coming off on my hands so who knows what it is? There is a shuttle bobbin with the machine. If you or someone you know would like to take this machine on and get it all restored you can come and pick it up.

Blessings of Autumn Pattern.

If you are looking for the ultimate in Autumn quilts this has to be it! Finishing at 58" x 62" this would make as fabulous wall hanging or lap quilt.
I envision this one done in mostly batiks as with the applique it will be so much easier to cut and edge stitch. The batik is tighter woven so less stretch on those tiny pieces as well as less fraying. You coulp opt to do needle turn method for the applique, but I am a bit of a slug and would do the fusible webbing. Trans web is my favourite.
Available as a pattern only you can find it in the shop or on line at: https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/Patterns/Bed-Lap-and-Wall-Patterns/p/BLESSINGS-OF-AUTUMN-PATTERN-x51475559.htm

Here we go again

Due to rising numbers in the Covid cases in the Interior we have been mandated by the Provincial Government that masks are now mandatory.
Masks must be worn at all times in the shop. The numbers allowed in the shop stay the same ....limit of 10.... and we have the hand sanitizing stations still at the door and at the till.
We ask for everyone to be respectful and considerate towards all small and large businesses out there. Together, with kindness and calmness we will get through this. Thank you.

Sewing Machine Repair

A little bit of a change to the machine repair schedule.
Bill has rescheduled when he will visit his dad in Salmon Arm to Wednesdays. He will bring your machines out to meet up with Hector in Salmon Arm. there is no added cost for Bill to bring your machines over to Salmon Arm.
Hector then takes the machines back to Kelowna to service and you get your machine back the following Thursday.
Hoping this all makes sense to you. If you have any questions please give us a call at 250-376-7630 or you can email usinfo@fabricshelf.ca
***Please note that the price of the servicing is going up by $10 to offset Hector and Tammy's travel costs up from Kelowna and back. **** We have openings for machines to be serviced. Don't forget that Hector and Tammy service sergers as well.
If you can drop your machines off by end of day on Tuesday you can be assured your machine will get over to Hector.
