Bill is on the Road Maybe
Bill is having some medical issues with his knee so will not be able to get up to the north for a bit. We will keep you all in the loop as to what is happening.
We are hoping for in a couple of weeks....if he stays off his feet and takes it easy!
I do apologize for this and hope it doesn't disrupt your plans too much.

On the Road Again....but to the Island....Maybe
Due to medical issues, Bill may not be able to get over to the Island when previously planned. The original plan is below and if at all possible he will stick to it. For now the doctor is saying he isn't going anywhere.
I do not have a date yet for him heading to the island but will keep you posted. If you would like for him to take a look at your APQS machine and get it all running smooth, let us know on my email and I will get you on the list info@fabricshelf.ca. The more machines that he has to do the cheaper it is for everyone, as the mileage will be shared by all. You can also give the shop a call at 250-376-7630

Bea Galliazzo
Take a peek at Bea Galliazzo's vibrant Hot Air Balloon quilt. Bea started with this amazing panel and built her quilt out with border treatments. Notice how the borders are offset with the colours and design. This all just makes the quilt so much more interesting and fun! Bea chose to back her quilt with black Minky for that soft cozy feel. The quilt finished at 54" x 70". The quilt was long arm quilted using the E2E design Seamless and Glide thread Prickly Pear for the top.
Thank you Bea for sharing with us all!

Islay Oatway
Islay Oatway brought this beautiful Lantern quilt in to be long arm quilted. Whenever Islay is bringing in a quilt to be quilted Bill and Leslie just love it! Her piecing is just incredible! You have to see it to believe it. Every corner is bang on! Not a stitch out anywhere!
Her Lantern quilt certainly requires the piecer to be paying attention as there are many seams and pieces requiring precision. She chose the E2E design called Double Bubble with Glide thread Cool Grey 7 for the top.
Thank you to Islay for inspiring us all!

Islay Oatway

Islay Oatway has her second quilt brought in for long arm quilting to show you. All in shades of green batiks this beauty of a quilt finished at 55" x 63". A perfect lap size quilt or a wall hanging. I think the light sashing strips were a great accent to the quilt!
Islay's quilt was long armed using the E2E design Bubbles with Glide thread Celery for the top.
Thank you to Islay for sharing with us all!

Jeanne Vanderwal
Jeanne Vanderwal has really surprised me on this one. I often see the fabrics created by Anna Maria Horner and have no clue what to do with them. Can't visualize them in a quilt at all. Then Jeanne comes in with this stunner and I am left thinking "Why didn't I think of something like this?" I think it has a Boho feel to it. Reminds me of myself in my teens sneaking down to Gastown, Vancouver on Saturday afternoons and trying to be a free spirit. Without my mom knowing.LOL
Jeanne's quilt finished at 80" x 80" with the E2E pattern Bauhaus chosen with Glide thread Peacock. Even those names sound a bit Bohemian!
Thank you Jeanne for inspiring us all....especially me!

A Japanese Community and their Art
We who love textiles know what it is to revere an exceptional piece of weaving or embroidery. But there is a community where this is literally practiced. And that is by the Ainu. The Ainu have lived on the island of Hokkaido for millennia, populating a culture distinct from the Japanese. Following a Hunter-gatherer lifestyle, they, like most communities that live off the land, revered all things natural.
To read more about this fascinating culture with a love for textiles and art click on the Read More Button below.
