Robyn Sheils

robyn-sheils-6

Robyn Sheils was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous large lap size quilt. The colours of the quilt work so well together!

Coral has become a very popular colour lately and I think it works so well with the greys and whites. Great balance of light, medium and dark fabrics!

Thank you to Robyn for coming in to quilt this project and sharing your day! You always bring the smiles and we love it!

JoAnn Linnell

joanne-linnell-horses

JoAnn Linnell was in to show us a quilted wall hanging she has made for her daughter, Jaimie.

The really interesting part of this one is the information on the horse. The horse was owned by Jaimie and double registered. A mix of Palomino and Arabian the horse was often out by the Kamloops Airport and was very well known. The name of the horse sounds very regal...Mustofa Ida Raja. There are sure to be some people who will remember this horse with fond memories.

As a side note JoAnn is interested in making another wallhanging and is looking for the gradated fabrics she used on the background. If anyone has a piece they are willing to part with give us a call and I can let JoAnn know. 250-376-7630

MaryAnn MacLean

mary-ann-blue-quilt

MaryAnn MacLeod brought her quilt in for us to quilt and WOW did it ever turn out well!

This is the first larger project that MaryAnn has made. In fact she took her very first class just a few months ago here at the shop!

MaryAnn used a pattern called "Bundle of Ten" by Amelie Scott Designs. All you need is 10 fat quarters and 2 contrasting meters for the sashing and borders. We do have 3 patterns available on line and at the shop http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Wendy Kingsley

wendy-kingsley

Wendy Kingsley was in to take the class to learn to use our long arm. This is king size quilt she brought in to be quilted.

Wendy was just delightful to have for the day and was so much fun. She was super open to learning new techniques and really brightened the day for us all. Her quilt does have some applique on it and there was a concern as to how that would look with an edge to edge panto all over. As you can see it is perfect!

Thank you to Wendy for coming all this way from the coast to share your day with us!

Wanda McRae

wanda-mcrae

Wanda McRae was in to show us what she did with her Snowy Owl panel by Northcott.

We are sold out of the panels as you can imagine, as they are just gorgeous! Wanda was here right away to pick hers up and we chose some fabrics for borders and to make it a comfortable lap size quilt.

Sometimes the panel can be so spectacular that you really don't need to do too much with the borders. Let that panel be the star of the show!

Thank you to Wanda for showing us your quilt! It is gorgeous and I just know that it is going to give ideas to others.

Carol Needoba

carolneedabo

Is this not the cutest quilt to go to a dog rescue? Carol Needoba pieced and quilted this one to be sent back east to raise funds for the dog shelter. What a very generous thing to do Carol!

When Carol came in we all just fell in love with the centre panel and could really see how the black border needed to be bright and amazing. Carol chose to do her quilt with Bill's help using the computer on the long arm. The Puppy Paws panto was perfect and the lime green thread really added to the final look.

Well done Carol and thank you so much for trying out the computer and loving what it does for you. I also want to thank you for sharing and inspiring us all!

Library of Rarities Wide Back

library-of-rarities-wide-back-2

By Robert Kaufman this Wide Back is amazing! I just love the Old World maps and art work.

The fabric is a cotton and is 108" wide with gorgeous tones of reds, golds, browns, greens and blues. I am thinking of just cutting off a piece and quilting it a bedspread. If I do I will be sure to have it in the shop to show.

Fabric is available in store and on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
